Play On KC
Sept. 7, a First Friday, six local performers will come together on the Knuckleheads Garage stage to celebrate Kansas City’s music community and raise money and awareness for fellow musicians who face medical and other life crises. The first Play On KC celebration will benefit the crisis support funds of Midwest Music Foundation and the KC Blues Society. Organized at the grassroots level by KC musicians and fans, it features six bands with a wide variety of followers across the region. Music genres range from old time rock and roll to funk and KC blues. All artists are donating their performances and time to help ensure that the KC music community remains vibrant and healthy. Headliners include the Nick Schnebelen Band (Formerly of Trampled Under Foot) and Chris Meck and The Second Sons. Both have multiple CD releases and have toured the United States and Europe. Meck’s wife, Abigail Henderson, co-founded the Midwest Music Foundation before she passed away from cancer in 2013. Along with the KC music community and fans, support is also being provided by Dimensional Innovations, VML, Pipeline Productions, Boulevard Brewing Company, Grinders and many other KC companies who value our rich music history and future.
